I’m thinking of adding more people to the roster of guest posters. I want to turn this weblog into more of a community driven thing. Despite what you may have heard, I am not a megaomanic! Who would be keen on writing here? I would like people to post about things with some substance and relevancy to our community. Chat with me if you’re interested.

I came accoss this interesting video about a mushroom called cordyceps. It’s pretty neat! They infect the body of whatever insect happens to eat it. It then makes them go crazy. Here is a video of the fungis in action: http://youtube.com/watch?v=-5FIrcj5HRY

This video (115Mb) is edited together from a BBC Blue Planet documentary called “The Deep”. I took all the best bits and stuck them together accompanied by some music from Chicane and Electric Skychurch. It’s very pretty!

To celebrate the beginning of the end (or maybe not) of winter, we’re having a groundhog day bash at my place. There will be a list. You must be on that list if you want in! There are several ways to contact me to get on that list, so don’t be dissapointed and do so ASAP! BYOB, of course.

February 9 @ 6:00pm - sXe Pie Day returns! - Location TBA

For those of you who are sad about the direction of Pie Days lately, we’re having a very special old school Pie Day just for you. No substances except for pie! We’re working on a location, and it will be announced as soon as we have all the details worked out. Drugs and/or alcohol will absolutely not be allowed!

I’m babysitting Devon’s young’uns for the night, yay! (Note to self: never make babies!) This actually feels like a vacation. It’s been an exciting, fun filled ( = exhausting & stressful) week of computer related madness. I got the video edit for my dad done in a day, thank Carlin! Then Martin and I collectively got Michelle’s computer all organized and going fast for her. There were a few hitches, but in the end it’s all working finally. Please don’t break it on her again! After all this computer stuff, I’m quite close to becoming a Luddite and going to live in the woods somewhere. Maybe I’ll wait until it’s warmer though. For now I’d settle for destroying all technology (except heaters).

Fastest video project ever!

And it’s only 6am. Yay!

Today I am undertaking a video project with a rather ambitious deadline of tomorrow morning. I just got the proper video capturing equipment yesterday, so I couldn’t even start before then. I’ve got a cold too! If you do drop by my house today I won’t let you in unless you bring along something with a high caffiene content. I don’t think I will get to sleep tonight, which will be teriffic for my health. I’ve done projects with tighter deadlines and under worse conditions though. Hooray!

I read this article, and the following line made me LOL.

Flying squirrels are not only cute they’re interesting little creatures! There are 42 differnt species of flying squirrels. They can be found in North America, Europe, and Asia. Don’t be fooled though, these little guys don’t actualy fly! They use the webbed skin between their front and back legs that they use to glide with. They make their homes in trees and eat a variety of nuts, fruits, bugs, and berries; what they eat mostly depends on what is around them. Flying squirrels can also make good pets!

I need as many as I can find before the 18th of January!!!! If you have any stuffed animals that you do not want any more, but would like for them to find a good home, please feel free to drop them off at Jon’s place or my place.

Dear everyone who showed up at my house last night,

That was fun! In the afternoon I was fully expecting a quiet, boring night all alone. Sometimes that’s ok, but I wasn’t too excited about it yesterday. Boy was I suprised! But it was very good! Thanks for coming by. I’ve missed you guys a lot, every one of you who showed up! (except for that guy I’d never met before. And it’s not that I didn’t like you, I just couldn’t miss you before as I didn’t know you even existed yet) Please do stop by again sometime soon. I’ll try to organize a real party sometime in the future too. Not that this one wasn’t, but next time it will be even more fun! Maybe an end of exams fiasco or something like that. Someone let me know when that is.

If I was clever, I would be asleep right now. Damnit!

PS. Bert and Kenny, if your next show isn’t an Emmy winner, I’m so going to cancel you. That was terrible!

As expected, the Ontario government did not do much with the minimum wage. It’s going to be raised 25 cents, from $7.75 an hour to $8 as of Feb. 1.

Two weeks ago the MPPs voted themselves a 25 per cent salary hike. Their base salaries went to $110,775 from $88,771. Cabinet ministers’ wages jumped to $157,633 from $126,321 and the premier’s pay went to $198,620 from $159,166.

40h @ $8/h = $16,640/year, well below the goverments proclaimed poverty level.

$110,775/year = $53.26/h @ 40h/week (not including vacation time)
Also note: MPPs’ food, travel, drinking and such can be billed to their employer (hey, that’s us who pay them!), unlike most minimum wage earners.

How do I get Morgan to stop e-mailing me? And how many times must I delete her account from my weblog before she gets the hint? Last time she contacted me, she threatened to egg my house if I “so much as breathed in her direction ever again”. That was in response to me asking her to please stop e-mailing me. Morgan, you’ve wasted enough of my time, now please just go away!

-work @ The Store: 3-4pm
-quit drinking for all of January

I will follow up on this items here on Tuesday evening. Now it’s time to sleep!
